Nach langem Warten ist es jetzt endlich soweit,Cleo ist läufig. Spannend hat sie es diesmal gemacht, hätte sie doch schon längst so weit sein müssen!Der Papa der Welpen ist auch schon lange ausgesucht.Auch die zukünftigen Welpenbesitzer, die schon sooo lange auf Babys warten, musste ich immer wieder vertrösten.
After a long period of waiting, the moment has finally arrived: Cleo is in heat. The puppy's daddy has also been selected for quite some time. And just as well, I had to put off the puppy owners to be, who have been waiting sooo long for them.

Jetzt gehts los! Eine lange Autofahrt nach Bestensee steht an.Und das ist er, Cleo´s Auserwählter:

Der Deckakt klappte problemlos, sodass wir auf hübsche kleine Hovibabys hoffen!
The mating act went smoothly, so we are hoping for pretty little Hovibabies!

Auch das Nachdecken verlief ohne Probleme.Die Autofahrt nach Hause gut überstanden, mit Übernachtung bei Tochter Bali.Ungewöhnlich nur,dass Cleo an zwei Tagen ihr Futter nicht aufgefressen hat, wo sie doch sonst nicht den kleinsten Krümel übrig lässt.
Even the second mating went through without any problems. The drive home went well, with an overnight stay at daughter Bali`s home. Unusual however, Cleo did not eat all of her food. Normally she does not leave the smallest crumbs.
7.10. 16 - 8.Tag
Normalerweise liegt Cleo abends, wenn wir im Wohnzimmer auf der Couch sitzen, immer in der Küche.Seit ein paar Tagen sucht sie aber vermehrt unsere Nähe, ist immer bei uns und genießt die Streicheleinheiten.Auch bleibt sie nicht mehr so gern im Garten, steht gleich wieder vor der Terrassentür und möchte ins Haus.
Normally, Cleo lies in the kitchen during the evenings. Since a few days now, she is searching our proximity more often, is always close to us and enjoys the tender loving care. Also, she does not like to be in the garden that much anymore; she immediately reappears in front of the terrace door and wants to come back into the house.
14.10-16 - 15. Tag
Im Falle einer erfolgreichen Befruchtung sind die Embryonen in der Gebärmutter angekommen.Eine lange Reise !
Cleo geht es gut.Die täglichen Spaziergänge liebt sie sehr, nur scheint sich die eventuelle Schwangerschaft auf die Ohren zu schlagen,da muss Frauchen doch schon einmal mehr rufen, bis die Dame dann mal angetrabt kommt.Cleo spielt schon noch mit Antheo oder Banshee, aber sie ist ruhiger geworden.Liegt es am Alter oder vielleicht, weil sie ja evtl weiß, dass sie Nachwuchs bekommt? Es bleibt spannend...
In case of a successful fertilization, the embryos have arrived in the womb. A long journey! Cleo is doing well. She really enjoys the daily walks very much, but it seems that the possible pregnancy has had an effect on her ears; the mistress sometimes has to call more than once, until the lady sees fit to trot over. Cleo still plays with Antheo or Banshee, but she is much calmer. Is it the age or maybe because she already knows that she might be carrying puppies? It remains exciting...
21.10.16 - 22.Tag
Die Organe der Föten beginnen sich auszubilden, Augen und Nervenstränge im Rückenmark werden angelegt.
The organs of the fetuses are beginning to develop, the eyes and nerve cords are being created in the spinal cord.
Normalerweise kann man ab dem 22. Tag per Ultraschall nachweisen, ob der Deckakt geklappt hat.Da sich die Kleinen in diesem Stadium aber ganz gern "verstecken", warten wir noch eine Woche, obwohl es sooo schwer fällt
Usually you can see whether the mating worked out by the 22nd day via ultrasound. As the little ones gladly "hide" themselves at this stage, we will wait another week, although that is pretty tough.
24.10.16 - 25. Tag
Da ich heute mit Antheo zum Tierarzt musste, hab ich jetzt nicht bis Freitag gewartet, sondern Cleo gleich mitgenommen.Notfalls muss dann Freitag wiederholt werden.Und....
Because I had visit to the vet with Antheo today, I did not wait until Friday, but took Cleo with me right away. If necessary, we will have to repeat that on Friday.

Cleo ist tragend 
Mindestens vier vitale Welpen.Sagt der Tierarzt immer, und hört auf zu zählen, weil wir Cleo ja nicht den ganzen Bauch nackig machen wollen.
Und hier sind sie, unsere Kleinen:
Cleo is carrying at least four vital puppies. That is what the vet always tells me and then stops counting, because we do not want to shave Cleo’s entire belly stark naked. And here they are, our little ones:

29.10.16 - 30. Tag
Zehen, Barthaare und Krallen beginnn sich zu entwickeln
Toes, whiskers and claws are beginning to develop.
Cleo ist der Meinung, ein Moorfußbad ist gut in der Schwangerschaft.Nochmal Glück gehabt, dass es kein Ganzkörperbad geworden ist.
Ihr Bauchumfang ist um 6 cm gewachsen, jetzt auf 80 cm.Ganz schön viel für dieses Stadium der Trächtigkeit 
Cleo thinks a marsh-footbath is a good thing for the pregnancy. Luckily, it did not turn out to be a whole body bath.
Her belly circumference has grown by 6 cm and is now at 80 cm. That is quite a lot for this stage of the pregnancy.

4.11.16 - 36.Tag
Die Organbildung ist abgschlossen und das Fell fängt an zu wachsen.
The formation of the organs is completed and the fur begins to grow.
Der Bauch wächst und wächst.Jetzt haben wir schon 10 cm mehr Umfang.Auch zieht Cleo die Beine nicht mehr an,wenn sie liegt.Die Kleinen drücken schon ganz ordentlich
The belly grows and grows. Now we already have 10 cm larger circumference. Also, Cleo doesn’t draw up her legs anymore, when she is lying. The puppies are already creating quite some pressure.
11.11.16 - 44.Tag
Die Knorpel verkalken langsam, das Skelett verhärtet sich.Zwei Drittel der Trächtigkeit sind geschafft.
The cartilages are slowly clogging. Two thirds of the pregnancy are over.
Unsere Spaziergänge werden ruhiger, Cleo hat ja auch schon ordentlich Gewicht zu tragen.Der Bauchumfang beträgt jetzt 90 cm.
Our walks become calmer, Cleo has to carry quite some weight by now. Her belly circumference is now 90 cm.
Gestern haben wir die Wurfkiste aufgebaut, hat Cleo aber nicht weiter interessiert,hat sie nur aus der Ferne betrachtet.Banshee hingegen war der Meinung, die Kiste ist für sie , gleich mal Probeliegen 
Yesterday, we built the whelping box, which did not interest Cleo one bit – she just watched from a distance. Banshee, however, thought the box was for her and went straight in for a test.
Im Übrigen suchen wir noch ein Thema für unsere Hundenamen.Wir hatten schon Götter und Sagengestalten und alkoholische Getränke, aber beim Buchstaben E wird es schwierig.Vielleicht habt ihr ja Ideen, die ihr uns dann gerne im Gästebuch mitteilen könnt.Wir würden uns sehr freuen!!
By the way, we are still looking for a theme for the dog names. We already had gods and persons from legends and alcoholic beverages, but with the letter E it’ll be difficult. Maybe you have got an idea. Let us know via the guest book. We would be very happy.

So in etwa sehen unsere Kleinen jetzt aus. Wenn die Hündin entspannt auf der Seite liegt, kann man die Welpenbewegungen spüren.
Am Bauch gehen die Haare immer mehr aus, sodass die Neugeborenen es leichter haben, den Weg zur Milchbar zu finden.
This is close to how our little ones are looking right now. While the she-dog is lying on her side in a relaxed state, the movements of the puppies can be felt. The hair around her belly is shedding more and more, so that the newborns can find their way to the mammary glands more easily.
Nun ist der Babybauch schon ordentlich rund.95 cm misst er inzwischen.Ansonsten alles im grünen Bereich, nur Cleo schnarcht nun permanent in einer Lautstärke, dass wir dachten , der Nachbar sägt Holz
The belly with the puppies is rather round now with 95cm. For the rest, everything is just fine, however, Cleo is constantly snoring at such a volume that we thought the neighbor was sawing wood.
25.11.16 - 58.Tag
Der Countdown läuft...
Ab jetzt können die Welpen kommen.
Cleo leidet inzwischen auch ganz schön,hechelt viel und im Garten werden Löcher gebuddelt.Auch das Futter schmeckt nicht mehr so richtig.Die Spaziergänge werden kürzer und ihr Gang ähnelt eher dem einer Ente ,aber die Arme hat ja auch schwer zu tragen an dem dicken Bauch, ein Umfang von 102 cm !!!

From now on, the puppies can be born.
Cleo is suffering quite a bit by now, pants a lot and digs holes in the backyard. Even the food does not really taste that well anymore. The walks turn out shorter and she is moving like a duck; but the poor thing has to carry heavily with the huge belly at 102 cm!!
Aber heute Nacht wird wohl noch nichts passieren, denn ungefähr 6 - 24 Stunden vor der Geburt sinkt die Körpertemperatur um ca 1,5 -2 Grad .Bis jetzt aber alles noch normal.
But tonight we don't expect anything to happen, yet, because about 6-24 hours before giving birth, the body temperature drops approximately 1,5-2 degrees. So far everything is at the normal level.
